Birthday Week!

Good evening!

Wow i cant believe how quickly Monday’s come around again! How did you find your first week of home schooling? We did pretty well, no arguments and we’ve actually had lots of fun together and I’ve learnt a few things…..mainly on the maths side. So this week is Alfie’s 12th birthday which is actually tomorrow. I cant believe he’s going to be 12, time flies and with everything thats going on in the world right now its made me realise many things, one being i need to spend more time with my children than what i have been doing, as they don’t stay little for long…….my eldest is 23 later this year!

So as you can all imagine our birthday plans which we had didn’t happen this weekend, Alfie had picked to go to his favourite restaurant in Leeds with his best friend. So I’ve told him that tomorrow he doesn’t need to do any school work (don’t worry he’s done extra today to make up for it) and that we will most likely have a PJ day and watch movies and eat sweets for most of it. We are going to have some quality time together and be grateful for what we have. I’m going to make it a day to remember for him, he’ll remember that his 12th birthday was full of laughter, happiness, video calls to family members and that he was able to still have contact via video calling with his close family. He’ll always remember this day in such a positive way and thats because i’ll make the whole day so special. To anyone who’s reading this who may also have a child’s birthday coming up or maybe your own, i want to wish  you all a happy birthday and to just remind you, its not what you do on your birthday that matters, its how you create happiness and to have those who are close to you around you via the technology of video calling as to me that makes your day so much better. Oh and i forget to add, me and his Dad have bought him a few little treats so he’s something to actually open…….itll have have to be wrapped in my branded wrapping paper though lol as we’ve been unable to go and buy wrapping paper as i felt it wasn’t essential, I’m sure he wont mind though as one of his little gifts is something he’s been asking for, for months. His main present is money as he’s saving up, but he cant have a birthday without a few treats and he did also say to his Dad the other day, ‘if i can have an easter egg on my birthday i’ll be so happy’ so of course we’ve made sure we have one for him.

My Monday blogs over the next coming weeks maybe months will to hopefully reach out to many of you at this difficult time and hopefully spread some positivity and happiness. Im staying very positive, don’t get me wrong theres moments i have when i may feel sad or possibly have a little cry, but then i give gratitude that I’m here with some of my family and that I’m able to keep in touch with other and that i have my health too. I feel the more positive we are, the easier each day is to get through it and we are all in this together and together we can be strong and lift each other up when we feel we are struggling. I’ve learnt a lot about myself over the last week and I’ve also seen how i play a massive part in some peoples lives and that how much my products seem to lift many of you, I’ve received some beautiful messages which have really touched my heart and knowing that when you melt my wax its helping you so much. It makes me happy knowing that I’m able to help you feel better and when i set out to start my business i knew i wanted to make everyone feel happy and of course sparkly too and i feel I’ve achieved that with many of you.

For those who may be reading this that aren’t in my wax group, please head on over and request to join, my members are certainly lifting everyone spirits and it certainly is such a lovely little community I’ve built along with the help of my customers and members too. I want to say a massive thank you for taking time to read my blog this evening and that i hope its helped you in many ways. Please remember…..you’re amazing and together we are strong and we will get through this.

My inbox is always open to anyone of you and i wish you love, health and happiness!

Monthly Subscription Box

So many of you already are signed up for my monthly subscription box and are lovely receiving these every month. For those of you who haven’t signed up, but would love to know more then be sure to carry on reading……..

Each month you receive 4 x wax pods all new scents, now only one or two of these scents will make my list, the others will be exclusive and won’t be able to be purchased by anyone else. Now some months all four scents will be exclusive, but only now and then this will happen.

Each month your payment will be taken on the same day you took your first box out, you can cancel at anytime after your first box, there’s no tie in at all. You might fancy a little break for a few months and then want to sign up again. Slots will only go live on the website between 1st-3rd of each month, so you’ll need to watch out if you decide to come back.

Each month one lucky person will find a golden ticket in their box, it’ll be hidden so you must look for it, as I don’t no who receives this either so it’s always a complete surprise to me too. We stick it in the box before we pack them with the wax pods in, then they all go in a pile ready for the postage labels to be added. Each month it’s a different amount what you could win and it also has an expiry date and if it’s not claimed before the expiry date the code will be void. So please make it your first job to look if you’ve got the hidden golden ticket. The code will be on the ticket and you must enter the code in the coupon section for your discount, if the codes not used then you’ll need to place another order before it expires.

Also there’s a VIP Facebook group, in this group there’s extra codes added for when I release a new scent from one of the subscription boxes, this code is just for the new scent or scents release from the subscription box and the code usually lasts for one week only. This codes only offered to subscription customers only.

My aim is to reach out as far as I can to many new customers so that they too can subscribe each month to receive a monthly box of wax from me that always smells amazing. Be sure to share with your friends and thank you to those who subscribe each month, I truly am so grateful to you and all those who buy everyday wax from me too. You’ve made what was once a dream come true and that I’ll never forget xx

What’s New This Week

I’ve a few things to share with you all this week what’s new to the website.

First up we have the return of the Mother’s Day was buttons, these come with a little message which says……… Mums are like buttons, they hold everything together. We can change the word mum to grandma, auntie, sister etc as we no not everyone has a mum, but you may still want to buy these for a gift for someone who’s had a special place in your heart whilst growing up. The buttons also come in a tin, which then can be reused to store small items in like, pins, paperclips etc

I’m also launching my small jars of wax crumbs, these come in a mini glass jar and have wax crumbs in which is equivalent size to my wax pods, but packaged differently and make a lovely little gift. These are just made from batches of wax that we may have a bit left over, but not enough to package up and then they are weighed out and placed in jars. They aren’t available in all fragrances and will just be added to the website as and when we have them. The jars can be recycled by cleaning them out and using them in the home or can just go in the recycle bin.

We like to make sure as much as of our packaging can be reused again in the home or if not it’s either compostable or recyclable as we like to make sure we do our bit for the environment.

How to keep up to date on whats happening!

LIWL Newsletter Sign Up

How to keep up to date on whats happening!

Are you signed up for my newsletter? If the answers yes then thats great, but since December I’ve sent out several newsletters and many haven’t even opened them. Do you remember back in May 2018 when GDPR came in and i sent out a newsletter stating that if you didn’t click the link and agree to receiving further newsletters from me you’d no longer receive them? This is because this was a legal email every business had to send out to their newsletter signups and if you didn’t respond then you opted out. Only 47.7% opened it, 8 unsubscribed as that meant they no longer wanted to receive an email and the rest just didn’t open it, this means those who didn’t open it will no longer receive my emails.

My newsletters are there to inform you of whats going on, when you sign up for these its because you want to be able to see whats happening first and to also make sure you don’t miss out on maybe new products, a one off discount code, free postage maybe…….it could be anything! If you’ve not received an email off me lately, then you’ll need to sign up with me again. I have started to remove inactive accounts who haven’t opened an email off me in the last 12 months. You may wonder why i do this? Well it free’s up space for someone who would like to read my newsletters, i only get so much space before I’m charged for sending them, so to me its a little bit of a waste having someone on my list who hasn’t opened it in 12 months. Now there could be several reasons why they haven’t opened it, no longer use that email, put me in their spam folder or marked it not to receive newsletters on what news I’ve got to share. On Friday 14th February i sent out a newsletter offering 12% off orders for the weekend only. Only 31.4% of this signed up opened the email, some who opened it took advantage of the discount as it was one of the highest I have given in a long time and it was a one off too, more of a test to see who would open the email. So my message i want to get out today is…….if you sign up for a newsletter with any company, open it no matter what the head line might say as you just never know what might be hidden inside that email.

Please click the link https://www.littleideaswithlove.co.uk/newsletter-signup/

only if you wish to receive my newsletters. Once you sign up an email will be sent to you straight away to confirm you’ve requested this, you must confirm as if you don’t the system wont add you to the mailing list. Im going to be sharing more and more via my newsletter and also my blog too as have you every thought how would you communicate with me if all social media went down? Now i would communicate through my newsletter and blog and when i blog you too can leave a comment so if for example you had a question about something on my blog you could ask me and then i would respond and it could also answer someone else’s question too. The power of blogging can be very helpful and i really want more and more of my customers to see each Monday I’m blogging, some weeks i may blog more if I’ve something important to share, its always viewable and a great way to be able to get hold of me too.

Make a note in your diary for every week to checkout what I’ve shared and leave me a comment too. I really want to reach out to so many through blogging and with your help this will be possible.

I hope you all have a great day and your week ahead is full of sparkle. Don’t forget its half term so I’m taking a few days off this week so dispatch times are currently at 6 working days, this excludes weekends.

Happy melting!

Soy Wax Brittles

How To Use Soy Wax Brittles

Many customers ask…..whats the different between brittles and pods? The only difference is, is its poured into different shaped moulds. Its made the same, its smells the same and its melted the same, just some customers preferrer brittles over pods. I find that many new customers go for pods first and then if they find a scent they love they then buy it in the bigger bags of brittles.

My brittles come in kraft sealed bags, i don’t heat seal the bag shut as theres no need to so this means that you do not need to rip the tab off the top. Simply just pull the packet open meaning that you can reseal it much easier, I’ve often shared this way in my wax group https://www.facebook.com/groups/850232061701698/?ref=bookmarks

In each bag of brittle theres wax that will last you weeks, simply take one piece out and i always say break a bit off around 15-20g  and add to your burner, then as its melting if you feel you need a little bit more then add smaller amounts until you’re happy. Adding smaller amounts like this will mean you wont waste wax and wont over fill your warmer. I always say……less is more!

Each scent is carefully poured into the mould and then decorated, the decoration may vary per batch as sometimes i may change the colour slightly. Each batch is recorded in my file so i always no when i made that scent and how many bags i was able to get from it.  Once the brittle is set i remove the whole slab and then break up into chunks and these are weighed and put into boxes. I’ve had customers in the past order a whole slab, this is possible but the slab doesn’t come in one piece as  it would break when posted out….many of my customers say they’d love to break a whole slab up as it looks so relaxing when they’ve watched me do it. They are right, theres just something about it that really relaxes you and it also leaves your hands feeling soft and smelling amazing too.

If you want to catch me making brittles you’ll sometimes be able to on Wax Making Wednesday, i try and go live once a month to show my customers what I’m making and they actually love to see me making products. I make wax every day, but Wednesdays i make products for the whole day as i need one full day each week to be able to keep my stock levels up.

Be sure to follow me on my business page if you don’t already so that you can watch out for my next Wax Making Wednesday which will actually be this coming Wednesday 12th February 2020 https://www.facebook.com/www.littleideaswithlove.co.uk/

I’ll share on my business page on the Wednesday morning what time i’ll go live, but don’t worry if you miss it as you can always watch me later on replay. Now i wonder what scent i’ll make with you all? Is there one you’d love to see me make up?

Thank you so much for reading my Monday Blog and next week i’ll share with you things that are coming up in the months ahead!

Have a sparkly evening!

Compostable Pod Packaging

Why Go Eco?

Have you ever seen the Great Pacific Garbage Patch?? This is an area of ocean bigger than the size of Spain which is swimming with non-biodegradable plastic waste. Birds, fish, turtles and other marine life are dying because they either eat or get tangled up in the plastic.

In August 2016, Plymouth University reported that plastic was found in a third of UK-caught fish. It has also been calculated by scientists at Ghent University in Belgium that shellfish lovers eat up to 11,000 plastic fragments each year. Whilst less than 1% of these fragments are absorbed by the human body, they do and will accumulate over time. Reports estimate that by 2050, the volume of plastics accumulated in our oceans will be greater than that of fish.

My pod & clear bag packaging is compostable which means it doesn’t have to end up in landfill. PLA stands for “Polylactic Acid” and is a biodegradable plastic derived from corn starch. This material makes a fantastic alternative to conventional plastics which can take many hundreds of years to break down.

Because PLA bioplastic is made from plants which are a renewable resource, by using this bioplastic we are reducing our dependence on finite resources such as petroleum oil.

Compared with conventional plastics which break down over many years into smaller plastic pieces and therefore never truly disappear, when PLA biodegrades it breaks down into organic matter: CO2 and water which can feed the earth to grow more plants thereby closing the life cycle.

The PLA most commonly used in food packaging has a relatively low melting temperature. This also means that less energy is required for the production process making it an even more eco-friendly plastic option.

Did you know that all my pod packaging is plastic free? I switched over from plastic pods over a year ago now and only use compostable pod packaging. It may look like plastic and feel like plastic, but it’s 100% compostable! Our pods may look like plastic but they are made from corn starch and on the bottom of the packaging its printed compostable….it also leaves this mark on the wax once its set in the pod. Even the glitters i use are biodegradable, i switched to these glitters before i changed my pod packaging and along with the soy wax i use and cruelty free fragrance oils it certainly does make my business very eco friendly. I like to try and do my bit and as i was selling wax pods in plastic packaging before making my switch i wasn’t helping the environment at all, i was just adding to the use of plastics when it goes to show if i can use compostable packaging why cant others?

Even the little packaging chips i sometimes by in, these are also biodgrable and you can test these by putting them under the tap and watching them melt away to nothing. I pride myself on using as many packaging supplies as i can that are compostable and being able to offer you a subscription box with so many of the packaging products i use falling under this category. We have a compost pile at home and i always put mine on it, it can take up to 12 weeks for the pod packaging to decompose, but quicker if your compost pile is active daily……meaning you add items to it each day helping it to break down into compost much quicker. Please don’t worry if you don’t have room for a compost pile, placing them in the recycle bin is just as good or you can take them down to your local tip were many of them have a compost section.

I’ll be back next Monday to talk about my brittles and to explain how to use these and all about their packaging too! I hope you’ve enjoyed ready my Monday Blog and please feel free to leave a comment or if you’ve a question ask and i’ll happily answer it.

Enjoy!

About The Wax I Use

About The Wax I Use

So on the market you can buy a variety of wax products made with different waxes. Here’s an inside to why all my wax products are made using soy wax.

Paraffin wax was first produced commercially in 1867, less than 10 years after the first petroleum well was drilled.   In 1991 Michael Richards discovered soy wax, he was looking for an inexpensive alternative to bees wax. Soy’s greatest advantage is that it is completely renewable. While the global reserves of oil shrink and paraffin prices increase, the only limit to the soy supply is how much we choose to grow.

Since soy wax is made from soybeans, it is friendly to the environment because soybeans are a renewable resource. Paraffin wax comes from petroleum, which is not a renewable resource. Because soy wax burns cleaner than paraffin wax, the scent from its oils is more pleasant and stronger-smelling than the chemical scents added to paraffin. It’s common to hear people complain of headaches when paraffin candles burn, but in general, this isn’t due to the scent of the wax but rather the toxins it releases into the air. Soy wax offers many benefits over paraffin wax—some of which most people don’t even realise.

Soy wax candles generally burn longer than paraffin candles. Soy wax is derived from natural vegetables while paraffin is a refined gasoline by-product. Soy wax is 100% biodegradable while paraffin was is not. … Soy wax releases fragrance easier than paraffin candles. This is also the same for wax melts/tarts/pods/brittles etc.

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans. After harvesting, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled, and rolled into flakes. The oil is then extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. The hydrogenation process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated.

Soy wax is biodegradable and cleans up with plain old soap and water. Soy wax has a lower melting point than paraffin wax and because of this, soy candles will burn slower or longer than paraffin candles.

Now if you’re like me you’ll want to make sure you’re melting something that’s more kinder to the environment as well as kinder to you and your family. Soy wax is vegan friendly too and isn’t tested on animals. The scents I add to my wax along with colours are also vegan friendly and cruelty free. I bring to you not only wax products that are safe, but also kind to everyone. Even my packaging is either compostable or recyclable along with my biodegradable glitters, I’m certainly making a huge help to be kinder to our environment.

Always ask questions whoever you buy from if there’s things you wish to know as it’s important that you as the customer fully understands everything you can about what you’re melting in your wax warmers. It’ll also help you keep safe knowing what type of products you’re melting and how each one can be so different.

Be sure to keep watch for my next blog, I’ll be posting one each week on a Monday! ❤️

Car Sprays Fragranced

Car Sprays Fragranced

Since launching my car sprays last month they’ve been a huge hit! These work really well on fabric upholstery, we do not recommend that our car sprays are sprayed on leather interior due to them being only for upholstered fabric seats and these even work well on carpets, curtains and sofas if using in the house.

All you need to do it a couple of sprays onto your car seat (fabric only) and then the magic will happen. The feedback we’ve had on these has been amazing and we find that our new product is one of the best out there. We use coloured bottles to protect the contents and we highly recommend for each use you shake the bottle before you spray. Each bottle comes in a compostable clear bag, these then can be put on the compost pile or recycle bin, we do recommend you keep your spray in the bag until your bottle is empty. All our bottles can be placed in the recycle bin along with the spray part too. Our products are not tested on any animals and we use products that are also kind to the environment.

We are about to launch 2 new car spray fragrances, can you guess maybe which 2 fragrances these are? https://www.littleideaswithlove.co.uk/product/liwl-fragranced-car-spray/

Maybe comment below and have a guess and lets see who gets it right!

I cant wait to see how many do get it right. All will be revealed this weekend………have a very sparkly day!
