When social media goes down!

When social media goes down!

When social media goes down I know many businesses going into panic. Not me as I have other ways of staying in-touch and my blog being one of them. I can also send a newsletter to reach out to customers too.

Monday 4th October 2021 Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp all went down, all 3 platforms I use to stay in-touch with my customers and followers. Now this is a reason why I have my blog and why I often tell my customers and followers to always check my blog for weekly or monthly updates as it’s always a way I can keep in touch.

Now some May say ‘how can you let people know you’ve blogged?’ Well if I blog on a regular basis and my customers realised social media’s down, then they can head to my blog as if there’s something really important I want to share I’d share it in here.

Now with it effecting Facebook and Instagram normally I’d think I can’t send everyone a WhatsApp message, but it’s effected this too. So I’m now going to focus so much on my blog and newsletters, so that if or when this happens again my customers will automatically check my blog.

We will survive with social media being down as it won’t be forever, but small businesses do really rely on it to get information account to everyone.

So this is me now taking charge of my way of being seen and from today I’m going to do weekly blogs and at least one newsletter a month, if not more.

If you read this blog or any of my other blogs, I’ll be forever grateful if you could always leave a comment as one comment can generate more comments from others. Without you and your comments it’s always harder for me to be seen.

Im forever grateful to each and everyone of you who comment on my social media, blogs or send me WhatsApp messages. Without you my LIWL business wouldn’t have the interaction as what it does and for that I’ll always be truly grateful.

Tonight is a sign for me to have the evening off, so I will wish you all love & light and see you all soon. https://www.littleideaswithlove.co.uk/

Instagram

Good evening…….Monday’s seem to be coming round much quicker! I hope you all had a great week and that this week brings you lots of love and sparkle.

So today I want to talk a little about my Instagram account. I know some of you already follow me on there, but for those of you who don’t here’s the direct link so you can head over and follow me https://www.instagram.com/littleideaswithlove/

Over the last few weeks I’ve spent more time over on Instagram and been posting direct from there over to my Facebook business page. I use Instagram lots for my stories, I love stories and I love how I’m able to tell my followers a story of what’s happening at LIWL HQ.

Now my questions tonight are……..do you have Instagram? If so are you following me? Instagrams a great way to advertise your business, now I know I’ve got many customers who also run their own business. If you comment regular on my Instagram account using your business account, it means my followers will start to see you and if they love what you do they’ll head over and follow you. It works totally different to Facebook, Instagram is more for connecting with similar businesses and finding your ideal follower. I also have a personal Instagram account, but I rarely log into it as I want many to find my business account and to connect with me through that one.

‘’Now I have many customers who often tell me they don’t know how to use Instagram, it’s simple…….follow the type of accounts you love. I follow people who have, home accounts, cleaning, meditation, crystals, I also follow a lot of my customers too. I then make sure I connect with those I follow, well I am following for a reason and that’s so my feed is filled with what they are sharing. For years I rarely did much with my Instagram, but last year I started to use it correctly and watched my followers grow. Don’t get me wrong I do lose followers, these tend to be accounts that only follow you if you follow them……big no, no I never do follow for follow, I follow the accounts I actually love and because I want to see what they are posting. I often buy from people who are on Instagram too, I’ve bought off some lovely businesses recently……I’ve actually an order arriving soon, I’ll share on my Instagram stories when it arrives.

I’ve decided to share with you my top tips for Instagram, just in case some of you aren’t sure how it all works……

Use hashtags when sharing a post, these need to be relevant to what you’re sharing, so for example say you’re sharing a post of what you’re melting from me and it’s a wax brittle then you’d use hashtags like these

#liwl

#waxbrittle

#waxaddict

#littleideaswithlove

#smellsamazing

#whatsinyourwarmer

#sherbetlemon (if that’s what you’re melting or whichever scent you’re melting)

#sweetieshop (again if this is the scent range you’re melting)

You can see what hashtags I use and you can select to follow them just like you can follow your favourite accounts, I add hashtags to each post, I now always place them in my comments, as I always share my post direct to my Facebook business page and I don’t want hashtags going on my Facebook post, so adding them after I’ve posted is perfect.
‘Now you’ve gone to share your photo and used some hashtags don’t forget to tag me in your post too, this means I’ll see you’ve done a post that you want me to see, so just use @ sign and then my business name littleideaswithlove it’ll come up as you type it on Instagram.

When commenting on a business post, always use 5 or more words, emojis don’t count and any less than 5 words Instagram don’t count it as a real comment, saying a small sentence shows other followers you’re actually interested in what that accounts just shared. Yes sometimes I may just use a couple of words on someone’s post as it may not need a sentence, but I try and always do over 5 words if I can.

‘Now if you’re accounts set to private, then it means I can’t share any posts you may tag me in, some people prefer a private account and that’s totally fine, but if you’re wanting others to see then you’ll have to have it so everyone can see your profile. Many people open a second account just to share things they want others to see and then keep their personal one private.

When looking at one of my posts, there’s a little arrow, this means you can share it to your stories, sharing to your stories means everyone who follows you will be able to see what you’ve shared of mine, tagging me in your share also means it’ll appear in my inbox and then I can reshare it to my stories too.

You might think it sounds complicated, but trust me it’s not, it’s so much fun once you get to know how to use it properly.

‘’I’m going to start having giveaways on Instagram and these won’t be shared to Facebook, I’m currently planning one as we speak and it’s going to be pretty big, I just need to make sure I word it all correctly so that it works what I’m going to ask my followers to do. I’m hoping over the next 2 weeks I’ll be ready to share what it is, it’s going to be bigger than I’ve done in a long time, but there’ll be things you’ll need to do to be in for a chance of winning and it’ll mean if your accounts set private then I won’t see the steps I’ve asked you to do.

‘I’ll be sharing more about this in my stories over the next week, so be sure to watch out for them. I will also tell people on Facebook about this giveaway, but if they want to enter they’ll need to be on Instagram.

I’ll probably chat again about Instagram on my next blog, as I’ll tell you more about my giveaway too. So be sure to watch out for it all so you don’t miss out.

‘Right I’m off, if you’ve got a question about what I’ve chatted about this evening, please leave a comment and I’ll hopefully be able to answer you.

Stay safe, you’re all doing amazing during this Covid-19 lockdown and hopefully we’ll start to get back to normality very soon.

‘’Love

Rachel…….x
