Little Ideas with Love

I haven’t done a blog for a little while and I did promise myself last year I would blog weekly….but you know sometimes things get in the way, but hey ho I’m about to change that!

So as where just at the start of February, I thought i’d share with you all a few things that will be coming up this month. First of all is my business birthday, can you believe i’ll be 6 years old this month? Now some of you where at the very start of my journey 6 years ago and I love that you’ve watched me grow as a business and that you’re still enjoying purchasing from me too. Since my first ever trading day so much has changed, I first started out making wax hearts, these weighed around 14g each which is the perfect amount to have in your wax warmer. Then i bought in some wax warmers so I could offer gift sets and wax starter sets too. I did decide to branch out and buy in bath products and whilst these became popular I decided to remove these after a couple of years and I wasn’t making them and even though I went on bath bomb courses, I knew it would never be something I wanted to make as i just love making the wax side of things and also my reed diffusers and room sprays and other home fragrance products. I love seeing how much I’ve grown and I hope to continue to grow fro many more years to come.

Also later this month will be the release of the 7 chakra discs, I’ve been testing the fragrance for this months and I cant wait to announce what scent I’ve selected ad I’ve really fallen in love with it already. My wax club members will get a heads up on the day these will be released, this is one of the perks of being a wax club member along with the discount codes they receive for their 12 months membership. I’ll add the link in the blog to the wax clubs so you can take a little look at all the benefits. I love seeing how much my wax club members save each year.

Also this month my Subscription members will be receiving their monthly fix of wax from me, once a month payments taken automatically from those who sign up and then I make up all the boxes and ship out. Each month they receive 4 new scents made up in wax pods, did you know that my wax pod packaging even though it looks plastic is actually made from corn starch and fully compostable. I stopped using those nasty plastic wax pods a few years back and switched to these as they are so much better and I also like doing my bit for the environment too and if we can all cut plastic a little bit, we’ll all make a difference to the world.

Also happening this month I’ll be testing more scents to make into carpet fresheners, sometimes you’ll see scents appear and then stop as some will be limited editions only so you’ll need to make sure you grab your favourites when they come in stock. I have 2 different options for the carpet fresheners now, in 2 different sizes. You can grab a bag with a bamboo spoon or you can grab the new biodegrade shaker pot, I searched for this type of packaging as again its kinder to the environment and in time the bag with bamboo spoon will eventually stop. The new shakers have been really popular and I personally prefer them to the bags. I’ll be doing a little video later this month on showing how to use them as I always say less is more…..you don’t need much on your carpet.

Also this month I’ll be promoting my Google Business page, leaving a review on my google page really helps me to be seen, not all my customers find me via social media and I’ve noticed lately I’ve had a few find me since I set my google business page up. For me to do this I had to have my address of my business verified, once google verify this then they give you the go ahead to set it all up. It also helps new potential customers buy with ease knowing you’re a verified business and being able to see customers reviews. If you’ve not reviewed and you’ve purchased from me I’d be so grateful if you could do, you can also share your photos on my google page to show other customers what you might have ordered or what you’re melting too.

Later this month I’m going to talk about CLP, I’ve done this in the past, but I’m going to explain what things mean on the CLP label, I think its so important for everyone to understand this and why its important as a business that we all use CLP, its a legal requirement and I want to explain to people why its important to make sure whoever you buy from in this industry that they have the legal requirement CLP’s, but I’ll talk more about this later in the month.

One big ask I have of everyone reading my blog today is, f you read them please leave a comment. The more interaction I get on blogs the more it will help my business to be seen as google love seeing people commenting on blogs as it really does help. With how times have been over the last 12 months with coronavirus many businesses have struggled and are still struggling and were all reaching out to ask our customers and followers to support us by commenting on social media, blogs etc as its not always about spending with us, comments help us just as much so dont feel like you cant ever comment even if you don’t ever buy from me, as honestly its fine as your comment could really help me.

Right I think I’ve talked for long enough now lol. I’m going to get back to my working day, I’m pouring wax today and lots of it. I hope you all have an amazing sparkly day and……happy melting!

Love

New Products

7 Chakra Soy Wax

Good morning!

I’m sure some of you may have seen that on Boxing Day i released a new product which was, 7 Chakra Soy Wax Discs. These flew out which I did have a feeling they would, but don’t worry as each month more will be released. How it will work is once a month, i’ll put the listing live, only a selected amount will be released and each month they’ll be made in a different scent. For December i went for my new scent Amethyst Rose, this was a scent that was in the December subscription box and one i truly love. I’ve had this scent specially made by a chemist i often use for many of my exclusive scents. I’ll be sharing more about the Chakra’s next month and will do a live on my business page all about them, so hopefully many of you will get to watch me and I can hopefully answer some of your questions.

Another product I shared wasn’t new, but I had picked a new packaging for them and this is my carpet freshener which now you can purchase in 2 different packaging options. The new kraft shaker ive picked is just perfect and works really well with my product. The packaging is also biodegradable and as many of you already know I switched my plastic pod packaging a few years ago to compostable packaging as I really wanted to cut out plastic as much as I possibly could. I’ll always try and make many changes lie these as I really do care about our environment and if it means i can cut as much plastic out as I possibly can it’ll then have a big impact on how little plastic my customers use when buying my products.

I’d also just like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you for all your continued support and custom. It’s been a year that none of us could have ever predicted and a tough year, but I’m hoping 2021 will start to see things getting back to normality. We’ve still along way to go, but i know we will get there and I’m so grateful to everyone who’s stuck by me in these hard times.

I hope you all have a beautiful sparkly day and…….happy melting!

Happy Monday!

This week is the start of the school summer holidays for us, but I know this years going to be so different to how it normally is. As a family we had hoped to go away this summer, but we’d only just talked about it in January and between the 3 of us were coming up with places we wanted to visit, but hey no one knew what this year was going to bring and there’s plenty time for a family holiday another year. So i had penciled in holidays for August and I’ve decided to stick with them as I’ve had no time off this year and I need a little rest. So from Wednesday 4th August to Thursday 20th August I shall lock my workshop door and have some well deserved time off. I plan to use this 2 weeks break to spend time with Alfie, maybe a spot of gardening…..if the weathers good for us, might have a clear out and fingers crossed maybe my eldest might be able to head on over and visit us. It doesn’t matter were staying home, we’re still going to make some memories as that’s what’s important in life. To be honest if i ever go away I’m always happy to get back home as I’m a real home bird, I like going away, but I’m always happy to get home and back in to my everyday routine. I’ll be using a few of the days I’m closed to catch up on paperwork, make a few changes to the website and to get ready for Christmas……yes I said Christmas! lol Its crazy to think how quickly this year has gone, we’ve all lost so much of it with everything that’s been going on in the world and the changes we’ve all had to adapt too, but change is good and its certainly made me realise a lot of things and changes I want to make too. I remember January and how long it seemed and that many people were also saying it was such a long and slow month, then February flew by and then March came and I remember when Alfie said when he came home from school ‘mum school could shut for a bit whilst we go in lockdown‘ I kinda thought to myself, that wont happen and then Boris made the announcement and lockdown started. That first week i honestly thought lockdown would drag and it would be awful, but we as a family adapted to it really well and I was lucky as i already worked from home so nothing really changed for me apart from having to home school Alfie. I was so grateful that my business was still able to carry on and that my customers still supported me and it also brought new customers to me too. I do honestly believe that many people will now support smaller businesses, those who handmade products, those who are in networking marketing as i personally feel you get more of a friendly service. I also feel that smaller businesses appreciate customers so much more and show far more gratitude to their customers. I personally are so grateful to every single person who buys from me, to those who comment on my daily posts, to those who share my posts, everyone who takes time to do these regardless of if you buy or not, everyone of you are grateful too.

This year I had many plans, but some I’ve decided to hold off on until maybe next year…….well if I feel it’s the right time, but if not I’ll wait until the year after. I’ve also got lots of good things coming up too which I’m excited about. I have taken the decision not to do any events I had planned this year, a few have already been canceled, but one they’ve not decided yet, but i have decided I wont be doing it. I‘ve to think about many things when it comes to events and I don’t feel this year I could have my stall set up in a way that would keep people away from each other and also I wouldn’t be able to allow people to pick up my products to smell them. Maybe 2021 I will be back doing a couple of events, but for now I wont be at any of the ones I did last year. I may decide to have my own, but if I do I will write about this closer to the time and it will be done more on an appointment basis and customers wouldn’t be able to pick products up so I need to really think about this before I decide if I’ll have my own.

Local collections…….. These will remain unavailable throughout the summer, once Alfie‘s gone back to school I may open collection slots again, but only a couple of times a month. At the moment I can’t open them up as I take each day as it comes and with Alfie being home I can’t plan collection days as we never know what kind of day we are going to have and with it being the holidays we may wake up one morning and think right were off exploring for the day. I promise you they will come back, but for now if you’re local you can’t collect. Once they reopen it’ll be the same as always that you will need to stick to the day and time you’ve selected. I will be making a few changes to this when I reopen collection, so please make sure you read all details when I do. I will make an announcement on my Instagram and Facebook page when its back on.

Update on what’s happening during lockdown

Good evening!

Slight change to what I was going to write about as I thought with the recent update from Boris I’d be better sharing what’s happening here at LIWL HQ.

So as of 11th May 2020 I’ll still be following guidelines of social distancing and posting out just a couple of times each week. My reason behind this is I’m still having to work alone, I haven’t the foot space to be able to keep a 2 meter distant exit in my workshop so it would be classed as unsafe for my staff. Because I’m having to work alone this means I have to do all the work myself which is taking longer as I’ve no one to help me. I’m working Monday to Friday but shorter days, this is also due to having Alfie home and I need to spend time with him whilst he does his school work, he’s doing very well with this too. I actually admire anyone who home schools full time, it’s not easy especially when you’re running a business and also have a household to look after too.

Parcels are packed daily, but not sent out each day as I like to collect these until I’ve got many packed up so that it makes it easier for my postman who collects from me. We as always are keeping our distance and we have a system in place that we don’t have to be near each other when he collects as it’s all left outside the workshop along with his paperwork. We just have a little wave and say hello through the window, it seems strange still, but it’s keeping us both safe.

Ive also turned off collection until September, I’ve done this as I feel that it’s safer to not allow customers to collect until we know it’s much safer and also because I’m working alone it’s not as easy to offer collection due to my working hours being all over the place as I don’t have set times at the money I just grab some work hours as and when I can fit them in around family life. Collections will start up again, but at the moment I’m unable to say when.

As some of you may have seen, my scent list has got smaller over the last 2 months, this is due to everything that’s happening, also some scents have gone on holiday and will come back and also helps me as a smaller scent list I can manage to make stock easier whilst working alone. Some scents will be matched to seasons, which I’m slowly starting to sort out. So for example, today Snow Fairies was taken off my scent list, this is because it’s going to be an autumn/winter scent and I decided to do it today as all stock on the website had sold of this in wax so it’s a perfect time to end it until later in the year. It’s good to keep scent lists moving and changing as then it gives you far more of a variety, there’ll be a lot more changes this month with my scent list as stock runs out, which I’ll keep you all updated on.

Customers who are wanting to add to orders, I’m still able to do this, but if you wish to add you must do this before I start to pack your current order up. You’ll need to message my Facebook/Instagram business page along with your order number and what you’d like to add to it, then I’ll give you instruction on how to do this if this is at all possible. I’m unable to hold onto orders so please make sure you contact me as soon as you think you’d like to add to them. Orders are taking longer to process at the moment and they can take up to 10 working days before they are due to be packed up and then they’ll go on my next collection date. Once your order leaves me Royal Mail will deliver your parcel, but please give it at least 15 working days before you contact me if it’s not arrived. We’ve extended this as Royal Mail are experimenting high volume of parcels and taking longer to deliver, which is very unstandable at this moment in time. They’ve been really amazing though and are getting most orders delivered within 6 days of collecting them from me, sometimes quicker depending on your area and your sorting office.

Now last week I talked about Instagram and this week I’ll be  having an Instagram giveaway. You’ll need to watch out for this as it’ll be posted to my newsfeed, but the giveaway won’t be posted on Facebook, I will mention it on Facebook, but you’ll need to be on Instagram to be able to enter. As always there’ll be rules, so you must make sure you follow them all to be in for a chance of winning. It’s been lovely seeing a few of you interacting on my Instagram and sharing pictures to your stories and tagging me, be sure to keep doing this as it helps me to be seen even more and I’ve had a few more followers this week too. On weekends you’ll find me over on Instagram more, I do all my posting to Facebook from Instagram and then have a quick look through and check my inbox and then jump off. If you’ve not tried Instagram do, it’s really lovely and I find lots of amazing accounts via Instagram and I’ve purchased off a few too. I’ll always share my purchases to my stories so keep your eyes peeled.

Right I’m off, I’m going to start on my inbox and emails and then put my feet up, it’s been a very busy day. I’d just like to say a massive thank you for all your orders and thank you to everyone who’s just recently bought off me for the first time too, I’m so very grateful.

Be sure to have an amazing sparkly week, stay safe and……..happy melting! ❤️?
